Elad is a Postdoctoral fellow at the Faculty of Education in Science & Technology at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Elad’s research under the joint supervision of Prof. Ofra Amir from the Faculty of Data-Science and Prof. Ayelet Baram-Tsabari from the Faculty of Education in Science & Technology, explores leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as generative AI (GenAI) and large-language-models (LLMs) to train scientists in dialogic science communication. He will first define and operationalize the goals of science communication training according to a dialogic approach, and develop tools and methods for evaluating the achievement of these goals. Then he will design, implement and test an LLM-based dialogue simulator aimed at helping scientists to improve their communication skills by conducting conversations with a virtual agent and receiving feedback concerning their performance. By using these advanced technologies, the proposed tool will offer scalable and interactive training, enabling individuals from diverse social backgrounds or limited resources to access high-quality training in communication skills. This research will contribute both theoretically and practically, advancing understanding of the goals of science communication and providing insights into the use of GenAI tools for training scientists.
Elad holds a BA in Computer Science (2003, Tel Aviv – Yaffo College), an MA in Educational Technologies (2011, Dean’s List, University of Haifa), and a PhD in the use of Technology in Science Teaching (2024, E. Bondi Award for Excellence, Weizmann Institute of Science). His research has already led to several publications in leading academic journals and conferences.
